Guyana’s Flag is also called “The Golden Arrowhead “and has five symbolic colours. GREEN represents the agricultural and forested nature of Guyana. WHITE symbolizes the many rivers and water of the country. The GOLDEN arrow represents Guyana’s mineral wealth, while BLACK symbolizes endurance and the RED represents the zeal and dynamism of its people. 


The Coat of Arms



The Amerindian-style headdress symbolizes the Amerindians - Guyana's indigenous people. The two diamonds in the head-dress represent the country's mining industry. The helmet is the monarchical insignia. Two jaguars, one with a pick-axe, another with a sugar-cane and a stalk of rice symbolize labor and the two main agricultural industries of Guyana - Sugar and Rice. The protective Shield is decorated with the National flower, the Victoria Amazonia Lily; three blue wavy lines representing the many waters of Guyana; and the Canje Pheasant, a rare bird found mainly in this part of the world. The Banner, carries Guyana's motto: One People, One Nation, One Destiny.
